Common Hand and Writs Problems

As they age, it is not unusual for seniors to encounter uncomfortable feelings in the hands and wrists. What to do is always a question. Center for Lifelong Learning will present Dr. Peter G. Fitzgibbons for a presentation addressing these conditions Monday, March 25th at 2:00 PM in Clubhouse 1. The program is free, but residents are requested to register with the E&R office. 

The title of the presentation is "Common hand and wrist problems"- Dr. Fitzgibbons will cover common hand and wrist problems including arthritis, tendinitis, fractures, and carpal tunnel syndrome.  A question and answer period will follow the talk. 

Dr Fitzgibbons commenced his education at Harvard, the Dartmouth Medical School and then Brown Medical School. He served at Brown University with a surgery scholarship, residency and then an Orthopedic Trauma fellowship. In 2011 he attended Harvard for a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship. He currently is active at Suburban Hospital, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and Med Star’s Washington and Georgetown Medical Centers. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons for Hand surgery and general orthopedics. 

Dr. Fitzgibbons has received a number of awards for his accomplishments in his academic studies and professional achievements. These include: 2007; Most Valuable Resident, Department of Orthopedics 2003; Co-author, AOSSM Excellence in Research Award paper 2001; Co-author, AANA Richard O’Connor Award paper; 1999  Harvard Extension School Pre-med Coursework GPA 3.9;  1993; Harvard University BA with honors (Near Eastern History) and  1990 British/American Education Foundation Scholar.   

He has been active both in presentations and publications in the medical field.
