Writing for Democracy Workshop – Teresa Blair

Teresa Blair, a resident of Leisure World, will facilitate a writing workshop to encourage participants to explore the theme of “democracy.”  The two one-hour sessions of “Writing for Democracy,” will be Mondays, March 23 and March 30 at 2 p.m. in the Clubhouse II Norbeck Room. Blair will provide specific writing prompts and will guide discussions to engage collective exploration of this important theme and stimulate creative thinking and writing flow.

Materials will be provided and participants are encouraged to attend both sessions, which are a continuum of activities to encourage reflection, writing and action towards strengthening our collective democracy.

About the Instructor

Blair retired from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and dedicated her time to deepening her writing practice and pursuing other creative interests through the County’s Department of Recreation’s Active Montgomery Program for seniors.

She lived and taught English as a foreign language in Tokyo, Japan, in a Thai refugee camp outside of Bangkok, and in Johannesburg, South Africa. Blair’s dedication to fusing social justice, human services, and the arts informs her writing approach and social activism.

Democracy has served as a central focus in her recent literary work. She has recently self-published a collection of her writings titled “We Are Democracy & We Are Not Going Back! A Collection of Writings to Inspire Hope in Times of Societal Chaos” which will be available for purchase.

Residents are asked to register and pay the $15 fee (for both sessions) below on this CLL website.
