The Law of Homicide

Clifford Fishman will conduct the sessions like a law class, but without required class preparation or exams. The course will explore the legal definitions of murder and manslaughter, what prosecutors must prove, and the social policies and values reflected in these laws. He will outline the legal issues and principles, followed by a series of hypothetical questions for discussion.

About the Presenter

Emeritis Professor Clifford Fishman spent eight years as a prosecutor in New York City, during which he tried dozens of jury trials and wrote and supervised the execution of more than thirty wiretap or eavesdropping orders. In 1977 he joined the law faculty of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where for forty-two years he taught criminal law, criminal procedure and evidence. He retired from full-time teaching in 2019, and in 2020 was elevated to the exalted status of Professor Emeritus of Law. He is the author of twelve law books and co-author of eight more.
